U.S. food regulators alert Whole Foods on Massachusetts plant

U.S. food security regulatory authorities have alerted Whole Foods Market Inc that evaluations at the grocer’s Everett, Massachusetts, plant turned up offenses that might result in food being “contaminated with filth or rendered adverse to health.” Shares in Whole Foods, which has been working to reinforce sales amidst extreme competition, were down 2.6 percent to $32.61 in afternoon trading on Tuesday. During 5 assessments in between Feb. 10 and 26, inspectors found food that were prepared, packed, or held under insanitary conditions, the United States Food and Drug Administration stated in a warning letter dated June 8 and published on its site. here

The firm stated in the letter that it had actually received a response from Whole Foods laying out steps it would require to fix the problems. “We do not consider your reaction acceptable since you cannot provide documentation for our evaluation, which demonstrates that your kept in mind corrective actions have been effectively executed,” the FDA stated.

The FDA gave Whole Foods 15 days from the receipt of the letter to record the restorative actions it has taken, or to mention the reasons for any delays.
