Why won’t the Fed raise rate of interest?
The U.S. Federal Reserve took out all the stops for the Great Recession. But when the next recession comes, the Fed’s toolkit is looking rusty. “If there were to be an unfavorable shock to the economy … we don’t have a great deal of space using our conventional tried and real methods to respond,” Fed Chair Janet Yellen informed Congress Tuesday throughout her semiannual statement on the United States economy.
